WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST VISIT
We look forward to seeing you soon. To help acquaint you with our office and what to expect on your first visit. If you have a specific problem you’d like to address or a dental emergency, you may want a limited exam.
A healthy mouth is important for your overall health and confident smile is key to your sense of well-being. A comprehensive exam is the starting point if you would like to maintain your oral health, need a hygiene appointment, or suspect you need dental treatment.
Emergency Exam
- When you first arrive you will fill out your registration forms. You should arrive 15 minutes before your appointment to do this or just download them now and have them ready for us when you arrive.
- Dr. Mohr will focus her exam on your complaint and usually take one or two x-rays.
- After the problem has been diagnosed and treatment options recommended, she will provide treatment at that appointment whenever possible.
- If your problem is more extensive and requires more time or preparation, she will make sure your pain is managed or a temporary fix are applied. You will be offered a convenient appointment before you leave for definitive treatment.
- Before any treatment is provided, we will go over fees and walk you through any insurance or financial matters you have.

New Patient Exam
- When you first arrive you will fill out your registration forms. You should arrive 15 minutes before your appointment to do this or just download them now and have them ready for us when you arrive.
- One of our dental assistants will take [X-rays], and ask you a few questions to get started.
- You will then meet with Dr.Mohr to discuss your concerns before she starts her exam. The exam will include an [oral cancer screening], [TMJ evaluation], [intraoral] and [extraoral exam].
- Dr. Mohr will give you a thorough report of your oral health along with treatment options and recommendations. Whether your treatment needs are big or small, Dr Mohr and her team will work with you to develop treatment approach that works for you and a plan of action for maintaining optimal oral health.
- If you’d like, Dr. Mohr can discuss cosmetic options to improve the look of your smile.
- If you have requested a hygiene appointment, you will then see the hygienist who works closely with Dr.Mohr to deliver the appropriate oral hygiene plan suited to your individual needs. She will make recommendations to individualize your home care regimen and work with you to maintain a healthy mouth.
- For most people with well maintained teeth and no periodontal disease, the hygiene visit can be completed the same day. For some patients further treatment is recommended which may require additional visits.
- Before you leave our insurance coordinator will be happy to walk you through any insurance and financial matters that you may have then get you set up for your next appointment if one is recommended.
